Sam is a native of Cape Breton, Nova Scotia. Born and raised in Glace Bay, he started as a magician/juggler later turning his attention to acting, beginning at the local Boardmore Playhouse and the Savoy Theatres as well as Neptune Theatre and Shakespeare by The Sea in Halifax. He has appeared in many radio, film and television productions including: CBC’s, Pit Pony and Black Harbour as well as Showcase’s, The Trailer Park Boys . The last several years have included much acclaimed stage performances as Calum MacDonald in Alistair MacLeod’s No Great Mischief in Sydney, Nova Scotia and a Toronto debut in 2015 as the bombastic Jinx O’Toole in the Dora Award nominated original musical, Heart of Steel: A Steel Plant Comedy at the Factory Theatre. Returning to the screen, Sam portrayed two roles in the CBC series , Canada The Story of US and notably a lead role as Dr. Sam Richardson in the highly acclaimed Canadian feature thriller, Lifechanger which garnered dozens of festival “must sees”, several awards and glowing reviews in many international festivals. Sam’s recent commercial appearances include major national and international campaigns for Sonnet Insurance (with Bluejay Aaron Sanchez and legend Joe Carter) and Twinnings Tea. Sam’s diversity, range and experience represent years of dedication to the craft.
